What does ADD feel like?

I'm a 24 year old, and the past couple of years I have wondered whether I have ADD. I consistently lose things to the point that I started having distrust within myself. I'm always the last guy out the door after spending 5 minutes finding my keys.(... oh they're in my pants this time!) I don't feel like I have a disorder, but I can't ever seem to put myself in front of a desk and study for my engineering exams. I already failed out of my university once, I worked my way back in. But now my time management skills, disorganization, and lack of prioritization have me thinking I may not be able to graduate. I've never really finished a project from start to end, it's one of the reasons I came back to this university to prove that I can finish.
I want to believe I have ADD but part of me really believes I'm just a lazy person. I've never really given full effort in anything in my life, I have dreams and passions I wish to pursue. I know I have the motivation... I should have the motivation. But I can't seem to steer straight. I don't feel like I have ADD, but everything I've read makes me believe I do.
I've set an appointment with a counselor to potentially setup an evaluation. This thought has just been playing in my mind for a while. I feel like I should ... feel something?
Top Comment: ADHD doesn't necessarily have a "feeling" to it, especially if you're of the primarily inattentive subset. It's how your brain has always worked, after all, so it's not like you'd be able to tell if it's any different from the way a non-ADHD brain "feels".

I’m confused. Is ADD the same as ADHD or not?

I was recently diagnosed with ADD. I have every single symptom of ADD with tiny hyperactivity. I've seen from some sources that ADD is the same as ADHD, and other sources that say ADD is not the same as ADHD.
thanks for reading and if the answer is yes, you can also give me tips for dealing with ADD from ADHD standpoint that helps.
